Message: Just wondering if anyone has tried or heard anything about putting a shot on a 4.7 liter. im having to resort to nitrous because it would be around 9,000 dollars to get me a custom procharger setup. thanks

Message: Fuel management and a MAP (instead of MAF) sensor will make it tricky.
But hey. Give it a try: what's the worst that could happen?

Message: Yep. And some of those pieces will try to go into the engine by way of the intake valves.

Message: A search of some old posts shows this has been done successfully before; concerns include using a wet shot plumbed through the test port with the needle valve removed, retarding timing, and using colder range plugs. At least one used the Venom system for management. I won't say you couldn't damage anything - but it doesn't appear "Boom" and "Don't Do It" are entirely sure about their answers since they aren't using their usual screen names.

Message: If you are running factory insides, the chance of snapping something off is stiil quite high.
Just because the piston is hypereutectic doesn't mean it is strong enough to withstand a pre ignition no matter how much you retard timing.
Oh yeah, kiss my ass Todd Burton............
Hope that helps

Message: I have a 2000 4.7 Dakota that I have safely run a 75 shot wet setup on. It was when I stupidly pushed it to 100 shot on stock plugs and 92 octane pump gas that I had problems... Go with an NGK ZFR7F-11 plug, that is a step colder. Make sure to gap them correctly. The stock timing is so rediculously mild that you wont need to retard it as long as you are running good fuel, at least 93 octane with an octane booster or something. Get an innovate wide band O2 sensor to keep an eye on air fuel ratios if you want to be safe. On the other hand, I am an STS turbo dealer and am currently working on the setup for my truck. It doesnt have to cost 9 grand really for a basic setup with SCT tuning and I prefer turbo over supercharger any day of the week...

Message: I have been running a 75 shot for a few years and a 100 a few times. Only a few things that you MUST do to avoid problems.
1: Use high octane gas. 93 works good
2: Set up a manual switch or rpm window so it doesn't activate right off the line. (This just burns the tires off anyway). I recommend waiting until 3000 rpms but some people say 2500 is plenty.
3: Get some colder plugs. Not platinum.
4: Don't use a high performance chip.
5: Get a pressure gauge. I have no idea why they say these things are optional but they are not.
As long as you get the engine revving fast enough to prevent fuel puddling you will be fine. Then all you do is add a few more mods (Cams, T/B exhaust) and watch the mustang owners wonder why they see your tailgate.
But all in all even if you do blow it some how then just rebuild it stronger and faster. You could still do that for well under 9 grand. By the way I have heared of people making 200hp runs on a stock motor, not that I would try it.

Message: Yeah that would be me who used the Venom kit on my Dak. I wouldnt suggest it. I was using the largest orifice size they had, which equated to about a 135 HP shot, it went lean on me and the design of the intake sent all the juice to the front two cylinders and boom, took out the tops of the pistons all the way to the ring lands, I did drive it home though, have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4.7 H.O. engine in it now. Runs nice with Gibson Headers and a Superchips Tuner.

Message: I had around 4 whole bottles through it. I never ran it at the track but one and I broke my Powertrax Lok-rite locker on the very first run with BFGDrag Radials and dropping the clutch at 4500. Ive had no luck at all with the juice. Yeah Id go direct port there at the heads under the intake right into the runners.
