A stage 2 universal kit is around 2,500 and an intercooler is around 800, however at 6 psi of boost the intercooler is not necessary with the way the STS kit works. You might need to use bigger injectors which are around 450. The main cost comes in the fabrication of the piping which all depends on how we end up doing it. The SCT tuner is 699 and is custom programmable and we can actually use a 2 bar map sensor for it to tune for the boost. You wouldnt be using the Superchips any more and theres no need for it anyway. SCT is MUCH better. Are you in the North East?

I am located in Maryland. The stage 2 kit has nothing to do with the power actually. If you check out the info on STS's website about the universal kits you will see what I'm talking about. The stage 3 kit comes with this PCV ventilation valve or something that I dont see a need for as long as you dont hook the PCV into the boosted intake system any more. Although it does come with an oil pressure sensor and warning buzzer, but I am trying to figure out if thats really necessary. I have been meaning to look further into that. If you are thinking of doing this yourself, it is doable if you can work with exhaust pipes and such. I can help you with the tuning. The stock 4.7 wont handle much over 6 psi safely. If you do the intercooler I would say you could get up to 8-10 maybe. You would be surprised at the gains you will see on just 6 psi. I guarantee its better than a procharger 8 psi setup.

If you are serious about doing this, give me a call sometime and we can get more specific. I'm sure you can understand how tough it is to think of everything at once and if you have any questions I have no problem answering them. Either way, I will do a bit of research and get back to you on just how close I can get you tuned for a baseline starting point. Does the guy at the shop you are talking to do any tuning on other vehicles? And is he confident with the piping and stuff?

Blown head gasket on my 2000 dakota 4.7 engine
IP: Logged

Message:
My truck has 175,000 miles and I was told it would be better to replace the whole engine to ensure other parts don't wear out because of the new gasket. Does anyone know where and what is a reasonable price for a 2000 dodge dakota 4.7 v8 magnum engine? Or if you have any input on replacing the head gasket. Thanks
