2003 4.7 Quad Cab throwing P0440 code (EVAP System) is all it says. What can I do to fix this problem? I have already replaced the Purge Selonoid.

P0440-GENERAL EVAP SYSTEM FAILURE
When Monitored: Engine Running. Fuel Level greater than 12%. Ambient Temperature between 4°C and 32°C (39°F and 89°F).
Set Condition: The PCM does not see the NVLD switch close during the medium/large leak test. The PCM then will increase the vacuum supply to the EVAP system by increasing flow through the EVAP Purge valve. If the switch does not close with an increase in vacuum an error is detected. Two Trip Fault.

I have a 02 4x4 qc w/4.7 last mounth i also had the same code. found the vacuum hoses at the canister bye the fuel tank. had large cracks in them. replace them with new vacuum hoses from the local auto store. Hope that will help.

Check the rubber hoses at the cannister in front of the fuel tank or the lines at the evap test port in the engine compartment right beside the battery. Check the lines at the connections, they might dry rotted.

Part number for hoses... Fix problem for me
Could not get them from auto part store... Went to dealer.
52102801ad = $7.95
5166499aa = $8.30
They are located about a foot from the gas tank toward the engine. Just crawl under it and start looking around. Can't miss it. :)

My 03 Dakota throws P0440
At a half tank of gas, has new cap and rubber
hoses. Can not find a pressure valve in fuel
system of emissions
