Subject: 45RFE won't go into gear IP: Logged

45RFE tranny
Went over a curb (wasn't there last time I went thru this area, its new) and bottomed out front of truck as soon as front tires went over it. Was able to continue on to parking spot, turned off truck, went and did my thing. Came back and cranked truck up, put into Reverse and nothing happens. Went to all other gears and I have nothing there either.
Checked P codes and only have 2 old codes that have not cleared yet (P1281 and P0442). Nothing tranny related yet I obviously have an issue.
Any ideas before I drop a bunch of cash on a tow truck and stealership fees to find out I only need to replace a $35 sensor or something simple?

Message: Not fluid, levels were fine. Truck was fine until I bottomed front end out on frame and tranny. No puddle underneath so nothing was broken open. Had truck towed to stealership where they wanted $90 just to do the diagnostic on it. Mechanic determined there was no pressure so it must be something internal and will pull the tranny tomorrow and open it up.
I could see the $$$ signs falling out his mouth as he told me this. I am starting to worry about my tax return now, I had so many other plans for that refund money.

Message: I would look before you disassemble your truck for some smashed tranny lines. It is unlikely that the impact dammaged your front pump but that is the only other thing in the tranny that would cause a complete pressure loss. A smashed hose/line will not cause the pressure loss but it could limit the pressure and keep the tranny from engaging. Also this is a Duh one that the mechanic should have noticed as well but is your linkage all working properly? Have some one sit in the truck and shift it between gears while you are under the truck (following proper safety measures of course) and see if the tranny leaver moves. Hope this helps you.

Message: Spoke with mechanic in person today. Seems I crushed the tranny oil pan into the valve body although I did not damage the valve body. I messed up a filter and knocked a seal out of the pump. He knocked the pan back out, looks like new except for the curb rash. Replaced both filters and the seal and flushed the system for me. He estimated I will be into the stealership for about $500-600 by the time he is done and they called at 4:30 today to let me know it was finished butr I was not home for the call. Will pick up tomorrow.
Thanks guys for the helpful diagnosis(es).

Message: Yep. Not much clearance between the bottom of the pan and:
Valve body.
Spin-on filter.
Bolt-on filter.
End of dipstick tube.

He banged out the pan and did a good job of it too. Only the outside curb rash reflects any signs of the ordeal.
He replaced the seal in the pump that was knocked loose causing the loss of pressure.
He replaced the damaged bolt-on filter.
He replaced the spin-on filter with one that was installed in another 45RFE then pulled hours later because the owner didn't want to pay for it.
He flushed the whole system and replaced the fluid with OEM fluid.
I could feel a difference in the transmission performance immediately, it grabs each gear a little firmer now too. Leaving the stealership, I laid into the HO cams Marty put into my 4.7 and for the first time ever it barked 2nd gear. My head swelled up for a second too...it hasn't barked them since :-(
