I actually turned off the O/D and the rpm dropped. now its done this before in the cold weather but usually after a few min its fine , but today it wouldnt at all. now i am only 10 or 12 miles from work but still. what would cause this ? all levels are good and i even let the truck warm up for a good 10 min before driving it ???????????????

Message: Don't know where you live, but up here in northern Ontario, Canada we often have that problem. One co-worker drove 50 miles in the cold and his Ram did not shift up.
If you warm your truck up for a few minutes, at least when it is minus 15*C or colder, make sure it won't roll, then start it in Neutral. In Neutral the tranny will circulate the fluid to warm it up. In Park it will not.
I have also had experience with several different Mopar trannys and go by one motto: "Buy Mopar fluid and Mopar filters for Mopar trannys. No exceptions, ever." You can get away with after-market stuff for many other jobs, but not the tranny.
