Subject: ecu problems? IP: Logged
Message: i have a 99 dakota with a 5.2 and last week i was driving and it just died at a red light.it will run but wont idle and my brake,check engine and abs light came on and my speedo quit working to.when i hook up a diagnostic reader it says the map sensor is bad but i put a new one on and it didnt take care of any of the problems any help would be greatly appreciated

Message: brake, abs and speedo not working should be the RWSS(rear wheel speed sensor) in the center section of the rear diff. about 20-30 bucks for the part.

Message: not likely shane. you probably need to clean the TB(throttle body) and IAC(idle air control) motor. really easy to do.
but, since you got a code for the MAP you might want to take a look at the little rubber hose connection on it. check and see if it is cracked. i don't think the MAP sensors go out very often on these trucks.
