Subject: My Fathers truck just quit running! IP: Logged
Message: My father's truck isn't a Dodge but I was hoping that somebody here would give me an idea as to what might be the problem. His truck is a 1994 Chevy full size 2 wheel drive 4.3 V6 4- speed manual with O/D. He was driving and went to shift from 4th to O/D, pushed in the clutch to shift, and the engine just shut down. He coasted to a stop, went to restart it, and it cranked over but didn't fire back up. Now, this truck has been through just about everything and has a whopping 306,000 miles on it! He replaced the fuel pump in it about 25,000 miles ago, so it shouldn't be that. If anyone here knows anything about Chevy's, anything you can think of would be greatly appreciated! The engine was running just fine before it just quit on him.

Message: Is there a Check Engine Light?
If so, what codes display?
As a start, check all fuses.

Message: Since it was a manual tranny and it shut down when the clutch pedal was depressed i'd venture a guess and say that the clutch interlock circuit somehow toasted a fuse (like Josh said) or a relay somewhere in the ignition circuit. The clutch interlock tells the starter not to turn unless the clutch pedal is depressed (for obvious reasons).
I have no experience with this, and perhaps the clutch interlock has nothing to do with the ignition circuitry or the truck's problem. But I would start there, especially if you're handy with a digital multimeter.
Chevy - "Like a Rock" (haha sorry, couldnt help but to poke some fun at a chevy guy when his truck goes about as far as he can throw it. ;-p)

Message: Well I was a chevy man my whole life. Owned a 1975 chevy full size 350 4 bolt main and got 265,000 miles out of it before the body was literally falling off from it. I would say that 300,000 miles is pretty good out of a chevy. If it is something simple that is wrong with his truck, he is going to fix it and drive it another 100,000 miles! Thanks for the info on the chevy!

Message: Clutch interlock merely prohibits starter engagement until the clutch is fully depressed. Does not prohibit engine operation.
That the engine turns over but will not start should rule out starter interlock as the main cause.

Message: Well, as usual...somebody was right again on here. It was a fuse that was blown on my fathers truck. Now he says he wants to see 400,000 miles. No rust on the entire truck and only has one small dent in the box caused by a deer. (Oh yeah, and has alot of the origional parts too. Even the origional clutch!) Thanks again guys! It wasn't even a dodge and you guys got it. This wednesday i am taking my Dakota in for an exhaust system. They are putting a new muffler which has one inlet and two outlets and running dual all the way back to the bumper. Also having a nice set of stainless tips put on them too. Can't wait!! My truck is a 2000 club cab 4.7 V8 auto w/ overdrive 4X4 31x10.50x15 BF Goodrich All Terrains! 128,000 miles!

Message: everything under the hood is brand new. I was driving along the other and it just died and now it wont start. It didnt make any noises it just quit. I thought since it was hot that it vapor lock so I let it sit overnight and still wont start. I check the basics under the hood but still couldnt figure it out. If anyone has any ideas please let me know, im sure its something simple that Im missing. It has fuel, oil, battery power, the relay switch work, carb smells like its getting fuel, and I dont see any leaking valves. Any ideas would be helpful.
