 Subject: no park

I've got no park on my dodge dakota 96 4x4 with the 42rh. I can get the lever to the park position but the truck needs to be with th parking brake in order for to be not mobile.
It acts as if it is in neutral when it's on PARK.
Anyone knows what could be the cause ?

Yes already been there dude!!!!
I tryed everything before posting the info request. Tryed to readjust, tried to pull out the overdrive to se if the park pin wasn't broken but no clue on what could be the cause. Everything seems to be OK.
Thanks anyway.
I think i'll bring the truck to a tranny shop.
