Subject: engine surg, bucking, misfire???? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 1992 dakota with 318 5.2L 4x4 with a horrible engine misfire or fuel problem? What happens is when engine is cold it will idle fine for the most part, but soon as there is a load it, the engine misfires, pops, backfires, bucks when moving down the road if I hit the gas to the floor it will go but soon as you slow down same thing. If I let it idle for 30mins or so it will be fine with no problems. I started by full tune up, plugs, wire, cap, rotor, pcv valve, fuel filter, air filter. Then the coil and distributor, IAC, TPS, O2 sensor, Both coolent sensors. Even did the block bushing and oil drive gear. No codes on the computer, no service enige lights. Been to one dodge dealer they did not know. Been to a local shop they told it started and ran fine I just got a feeling they did not know. Please Help

Message: I had a ford work truck that did that and it was the egr valve. Might want to check it out if you havent already fixed it.

Message: check your torque converter switch/silonoid,for a broken wire or bad ground if o.k. check fluid for color brown (burnt) smell,do a tranie service, adjust forward and rear bands with service.. this should fix your bucking... your T/C is sliping and jumping back and fourth form lock-up to other gears/O.D.,,, you can get specs from GENOS.COM, good luck...

Message: I had a similar problem with my 94 5.2. I changed various sensors but still had problems. It turned out my ignition switch was bad and the computer wasn't getting proper voltage at times. Check the electrical supply to the ecm.

Message: So I still have a problem after doing everything suggested and also replaced the timing chain which was strecthed out alot, but my problem now is the engine runs good cold and after 30-45 mins of running it runs like crap doing the same thing it did when it was cold before. I know the chain was put in correct and the timing is right. Does anyone think it could be the computer?
