You can either disconnect the battery for a few seconds or unplug the 3 connectors on the PCM and then plug them back in. Either way will reset the PCM.

to add to Dunner's post while the batt's unplugged, turn and hold the key as if you were trying to start it (for 30 seconds)

I've read that about the key part before, but I've never done it. I always just unplug the PCM. Another tip is that if you are wanting to crank the engine over without it starting..... just unplug the black connector on the PCM. I think I've about worn out my connectors from all the plugging and unplugging - especially when you figure how often I swap the PCMs around.

Probably drains any memory with a capacitor or short term battery power. I don't really know just guessing.

yep, middy is right. even when the battery is disconnected there is still power existent in the system, but by "starting" the truck, the stored energy is drained.

speed tweeks sez to disconnect the neg. bat post and hold to start position for about 30 sec. to reset the pcm and they say it takes 500 or so miles to relearn your driving style.
