Subject: 92 5.2 Dakota wont start IP: Logged
Message: My name is Bob and im having some problems with my 92 5.2. Was running fine and water pump went. Changed water pump and then had problems with truck starting. It would start and run for about 15- 30 seconds, if it would start. Like spark and fuel both would shut down, then once the relays click a few times the truck would start. I replaced plugs, wires, car, and rotor about month ago. I now replaced coil, temp switch, and sensor. Checked harness didnt see any broken wires and fuses and relays are fine. I cant figure it out does anyone think they can help. Im getting no spark to the coil. And no check engine or mantaince light. When they do come on the truck will start but the stall later. When key is on and both lights on the tach will jump up and down a little. Any help would be a big help Thanks.

Message: Bob i read you checked the harmess but
your year truck is notorious for the underhood wire splice
you should have a under hood fuse/relay box inner fender well drivers side (black)
remove that
untape the wire harness
your looking for a splice of 3 or 4 wires
they are usually red/white
the splice either breaks or gets all nasty
cut the splice and and redo it
9 out of 10 times its the problem you have mentioned with your year truck
good luck and give us an update
