Looking for an ECU for my 2000 dakota 4.7 SLT Quad Cab. Anyone got a cheap one, that is working, they want to get rid of?

No such thing as a cheap one.

Sure there is - I got a used one at car-part.com for $80 years ago; to run the truck while I sent the original off for a custom flash. Many with the other motors say you'll need to get the VIN flashed into it at the dealer for it not to set codes - but I didn't need to for my '00 4.7.

Thanks Kowalski. I want to do exactly what you did. Does emission differences matter?

Yup - 2 possibilities for emissions, federal or Cali. You don't have to be in California for that emissions package, I have it in MA. You have it if your '00 has the two precats with sensors by the engine; the federal will have one cat underneath with the sensors there (Cali also has that cat). Whether you have a manual or auto matters too.

Thanks again Kowalski. You are the man. Your information is a great help. What's funny is I live in Honolulu, HI and emissions don't matter here because of our tradewinds. I'll keep you informed.
