Message: If I removed my front drive shaft to pick up a little mileage, would it hurt the transfer case? I'm not sure if it would stay well lubricated without the shaft turning. 93 5.2 CC 4x4

Message: Nice try, but unless you have manual locking hubs (or a front axle disconnect), the front wheels are still turning the front axle shafts, which are still making the differential gears turn.
You've removed a few pounds from the rotating mass, but that's about it.

Message: Oh. You could still put it in 4x4 mode. That would engage the lock inside the transfer case to spin everything up and keep it lubed.
Don't switch to 4x4 while in motion, there's nothing turning the front drive section of the transfer case with the front drive shaft gone, so the gear speeds won't match up while in motion.
