Subject: fuses blowing IP: Logged
Message: I'm having trouble with my 2004 dakota quad cab. 4.7. A few weeks ago, I popped the engine fuse on the dash. I replaced it and it kept blowing every fuse I put in as soon as I turned the ignition. I figured a short. I got it home and searched for a short. I found one wire in the harness rght behind the big connecter through the firewall above the brake that was stripped from rubbing on the back of the connector. I sealed it and wrapped that part of the harness to keep it from happening again. It didn't happen for about two weeks. Then it started happening again. i checked my repair, ad it has not worked through again, and there are no other wires in that set touching. It always happens either right when I start it, or right as I shift it from p to r or d. Anyone know of another common area for this year to short out? I've checked as much as I can see without taking more of the dash apart.
Thanks

Message: "engine fuse" ain't gonna get it, since so many fuses in the dash panel fusebox support engine function. What's the fuse number?

Message: it's the engine relay fuse #10. I have been putting in new 10 amp fuses, and once accidentally put in a 20. This caused it to pop the 20 amp ignition switch 1 fuse under the hood. I have been trying to find something in common with when it blows to see if there is something physical touching during part of the start up. Sometimes it goes right as I turn the ignition. Sometimes it goes a few seconds after. Most of the time it goes after the engine has started and I have put it n gear. It never goes after I have started driving. I checked around the emergency brake, and pedals and can't find anything other than the first stripped wire I fixed.

Message: Fuse 10 in the Junction Block (dash panel) feeds the following:
Fuel Pump Relay in PDC (engine compt fuse panel). Just relay coil voltage. Does not power the fuel pump. Fuse 2 in PDC powers the fuel pump.
Radiator Fan Relay in PDC. Again, just relay coil voltage. Does not power the fan. Fuse 15 in PDC powers the fan.
Sentry Key Immobilizer Module, if you have that feature.
And one of the 12VDC feeds to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
Fuse 1 in PDC supplies fused 12vdc to the combination flasher unit.
