Ford f-150
Toyota tundra
Nissan Titan
and so on....
I have read a lot of info on the net...
quickest stock pick-up - Nissan Titan at least for now. Hard to believe.

Not true, if you do not count the Ram SRT-10 then the next quickest stock truck is the reg cab short bed Toyota Tundra 5.7. They run high 13s in the 1/4.

You need to clarify the question a little. Since you mentioned the dakota, then you are including midsize trucks? remember the GMC cyclone? It ran the 1/4 in the low 13s.
What about SUVs? Ram Charger with 426 ran 1/4 in 12 seconds.

I find the Nissan claim hard to believe too. They tested a 4x4 extra cab Tundra and hit 60 in 6.3. So how quick is the Nissan; and how long will it stay quick with that weak rear end ?

as much as i hate to admit it. but if you put a rear end in a titan those things haul ass. those got a pretty good motor in them from what i hear.

You can nit pick about limitied edition high end vehicles that are no longer produced. But if you take a look at any group of pick ups mas produced in the last, say, 5 years, Dodge comes out pretty close to the bottom. Not the very bottom, but certainly the bottom half.
I also hate to admit it, but the Tundra comes out pretty close to the top in most measures of performance.
Kinda sad, really. Dodge has gone from the the very best mass produced truck on the road, to a back of the pack performer.
When my truck dies, I'll rebuild it. There's nothing on the dealer floor as good as what I already have.

Well,
1.- Kota kid your right, the Tundra is the quickest.
2.- Dan M. I guess I should have said, out of the pick-ups offered today compact,mid or full size the everyday pick-up, which is the quickest.
3.- That's the question that will haunt everyone forever I guess, but if you read any forum domestic or foreign, They all talk smack about their trucks.
How fast they are, the mods they do to go faster, what they like to race and beat. geeezzz, go figure.

ok rick if your considering getting a tundra 35k++... well it sounds like you should be asking the question.
which has the most... lets say potential?
and you could save a lot of dough and get a used truck for a few k and throw a couple bucks at it and well....
you get the point right?
then you know what you got?

Just as I thought; Rick38's claim was just so much BS.
The question of who would want a quick pickup is actually quite easy to explain. Many of us work our trucks as well as using them to commute - they are our primary vehicles. The v8 gives us the power to do more work; and who wants a dog as their daily driver ?

Excellent point. I don't.
I have a very fast and quick sports car. It's a blast to drive on the street and the track. So I really don't need a street terror pick up truck. I use my truck as a foul weather commuter, a snow eater, and to tow my car to the track.
It's not a street terror, but the slightly modded 5.9 is quicker than most cars on the road, and it's fun to drive. I don't want a pig, but quickness is not a primary concern.

Did I miss something. (I guess with DVR's I skip most commercials).
I mean, did the Titan come out with a new engine like Toyota did with the 5.7 upgrade form the 4.7? Because the 5.6 Titan was average, but not any faster than 16 sec on the 1/4 at our race track.

That is affordable, let's say 35K or less.
What domestic or foreign pick-up, compact, mid-size or full size What would it be?

want to beat a vette on a budget?
i could do it in a pickup and start with under 20k
buy a pickup, for 3000-3500 and spend the rest on mods
and it would tow a house too
best of both worlds

If they made the dakota in a diesel, i'd buy one and do just that superbee.
I like watching videos on you tube for 2500 diesels beating sports coups and ricers.
