Message: Well, they might have dropped the ball and the new Dakota might be butt ugly, still I haven't read anything to say they are or will even consider it. I did read on this forum that they might be waiting to see if GM, Nissan or others drop a hopped-up V-8 into one of their small pick-ups. That sounds believable.

Message: The 5.7 won't fit the 2005-up Dakota simply because the space between the frame rails is too narrow. You can thank the Diamler-Chrysler engineers for that one, because several guys have successfully installed 5.7 HEMI engines in the 1997-2004 Dakota chassis. Reason for D-C's bonehead move? Maybe Dr. Z can comment...

The facts are facts. The Dodge truck line up just sucks! Chrysler in general sucks too! Life time Warranty???
Man your just begging people to come in your dealership and kiss your Arse aren’t you?
No, the Dakota could easily fit that 348 cid Hemi. Remember the 360's in the Gen 2's?
As for there reason; I guess they just wanted to rebate themselves in bankruptcy!!

Message: no, i highly doubt that a company that is willing to put a lifetime warranty on there product if there not confedent in it. it says a lot to me that they are confedent that there product wont break if you maintain it properly.
just ive been sayin for years that any car will last as long as you want it to.
oh and im not to shure about fitting a hemi "easily" into the new daks. do some reserch n5

Message: N56629, Josh's HEMI swap was in 2000 Dakota; no mention of 2005-up frame rails. When the first road tests of the 2005 came out, a D-C engineer told a sport truck magazine writer the frame rails were too narrow for the HEMI 5.7. You're right; the best verification would be a tape measure comparison, of course.

Message: I've read that the biggest issues are with length, not width. Remeber the issues putting a 318 in the shelby? There's only so much room between the radiator and firewall and if you go manual (the best way in my opinion) you still have to keep the shifter between the FRONT seats. I can be done, but not with off the shelf parts.
