Subject: P0132 and P0138 codes.. IP: Logged
Message: I own a 2001 Dakota R/T. Shortly after I bought it about 7 months ago I started noticing a problem. It would drive fine for about a week and then all of a sudden it would act like it was running very rich. I would pull over, turn the engine off, restart and everything would be fine again. Im getting 0132 and 0138 which is Upstream H02S shorted to voltage and Downstream H02S shorted to voltage. Im pretty sure I have a problem with the harness or with the o2 sensors. Is this the possible problem with the wierd engine problem?? If so should I buy new 02 sensors or is their a way I can test for a certin voltage on the 02sensor wiring harness. Any help is greatly appreciated as this problem is frustrating..

Message: Chris,
a few years ago had a strange problem with my 2000 4.7 liter.
engine running very rich, black soot on tail pipe and getting o2 sensor codes. After about a week of looking, noticed fluid on the o2 sensor wires on the drivers side.
by the battery is a power steering pump discharge line pressure switch. It blew and leaked fluid into the wiring harness, fouling the o2 sensor. The PS fluid reservoir was also low.
not sure of your set up, but maybe worth a look.
good luck
