Message: got my 01' 5.9 inspected and inspector reccomended i get my brake fluid flushed due to it being kinda dark in color.....130,000 miles on my truck....is this a waste of money?

just like any other fluid it has to be maintained. or it will eat your lines from the inside out.

Message: Brake fluid absorbs humidity over time, which reduces it's boiling point
and lowers it's performance. (spongy pedal after hard braking).
It's cheap insurance to bleed the front/rear brakes anytime
you have to remove the wheels or after any work on the brakes,
as part of a simple 'while your at it' maintenance routine.
You can siphon out (leave some on the bottom) the master cylinder
with a clean 'turkey baster' tube, figure buying at least three quarts of brake fluid
for a complete system flush.
Safety is never "a waste of money"
