i have a 93 dakota with a v6 and the 5 speed. I just bought a 5.2 for it and i was just wondering if anyone knew if the 5 speed could handle the power of the v8 as i really like it and do not want to convert to automatic.

you should have an AX-15 5-speed from what I have heard it will hold up to the 5.2L for some time if you take it somewhat easy on it. Another alternative is to pick up a NV3500 which was the 5-speed put behind some of those 5.2L. All in all you should be good with the v6 tranny just dont expect to power shift it and hold to together.

If you plan on doing a lot of 1st to 2nd hard grabs neither the AX15 or the NV3500 will hold up.

Finally... a V8. '01 Dodge Dakota RC, 4.7, 5-speed, 3.92 LSD. = R/T Killer.
well at least a stock one
