 Subject: 2000 4.7 DAK rough running/wont run

Hello my 2000 QC 4.7 a/t died went to dinner ran fine, came out from dinner started but ran rough..on the drive home it tried to die sevral times but keeping the RPM's up got me home. Put scanner on it and it gave me cyl. 5 ultiple missfires, put new plugs in it no effect, swapped coil 5 for coil 7 no effect took it to a shop who followed the Mitchell online troubleshooting tree till it told them ECM was shot - replaced with one from Dodge $580 and still same problem - barely starts runs rough missing badly when you rev it up it seems to smooth out but at idle it just dies anyone gone through this? Thank you

just an idea, have you ckecked the vaccume lines and intake gasket for leaks,or possibly the tps sensor

just a shot in the dark....i went thru this with my jeep and i found a injector wire had been chewed by squirell....hope i spelled that right!

When you say it barely starts, what exactly does it do ?

No vacuume leaks, no squirrels in my neighborhood! but I have checked all the harnesses to injectors and check TPS throughout its range with multimeter, Truck runs if you hold RPMS up around 1800 but if you let it idle it will die

How old is your battery ? This might be related to IAC or TPS, but failure to retain idle memory is one of the first signs of low voltage to the PCM. That sounds like it might be what you are describing now. Could just be the battery is on its way out, or a problem with the charging system - check the voltage at the battery before and after you start the truck.

It's either your battery is on its way out or the TPS sensor is done.
