Subject: Hey Rammer, new turbo IP: Logged
Message: Dude and other Dak dudes, I just got my new turbo (properly sized) today. The compressor is a .70 A/R and the turbine is a .84 A/R.
What do you guys think? I think its better than the 1.15 I had last time. Now I can build boost below 6000 rpm. ;)

Message: Not knowing the specifics of what A/R works best at what RPM, I'd say building boost below 6000 RPM is a *good* thing. :-)

Message: SWEEEEEET. I can't wait to do that stuff. If I see one, I'll let you know.
All I need now is a wastegate, some flanges and an oil pump. I'm going to have to go with the rear mounted setup because I don't have the money or the room for a front mount turbo:)

Message: Just lowered the back of my truck 3" yesterday.
Next weekend, I'll be doing the front springs and replacing the bushings.
Does anyone here know how hard it is to change the front control arm bushings? Upper and lower.
I've been putting off the bushings until now, but it has to be done. If anyonw has experience or just some tips, I'm wide open.
Thanks guys.

Message: Did you buy the bushings yet???
I bought a set of Energy Suspensions urethane front control arm bushings (part number 5.3122G) for my 00 2wd Dak a few years ago and never installed them, new in box. Also have a set of Energy Suspensions front sway-bar bushings (part number 9.5167G) that I never installed, new in box. I'd take $50+shipping for both sets, retail is about $65.
I think I saw one of your posts about a rear sway bar awhile back, did you ever get it hooked up? If not,,, I have a Bell-Tech 9/16 rear sway bar ($120) that I took off the 00 Dak, big improvement over the stock swap bar. The Bell-Tech is easier to install than the OEM bar since you don't have to use the OEM end links, the Bell-Tech end links bolt up to 2 holes in the frame,,, and to the factory sway bar pads on the axel, super easy install. One of the end link bushings is missing, (kids love to play with things left in the garage) but you can pick the bushing up at AutoZone or Pepboys.
$100+shipping for everything, both sets of busings and the sway bar ;-)
If your interested, shoot me an Email,
Offer open to others if 1hotkadota doesn't need them.

Message: I've already purchased the bushings and sway bar...but I don't have the factor frame mounts for the sway bar, so it kinda sucks. How much would you want for the sway bar alone?
My zip code is 85044, if you can give me a shipping quote and out the door price I'll buy it.
You think $75 would be sufficent?

Message: i got a new fmu from duner.hooked it up and it ripps azz. graphitedak took video on youtube.. search for paysonbadboy, need to watch a video, then look at other videos from him,the video was put up there yesterday 9-29-07. it was sweet. also found from duner you need to put an check valve on map sensor also, the electric fix works but boost on the sensor causes them to go bad and then truck will run bad or blow a motor, like he did. i bought one a checker for like $3. cheap insurance.,

Message: Hey dude, I'm not sure if it will help, but there is a 4 bar (44psi) capable MAP sensor that Megasquirt has. Do you think that could work?

| RE: Hey Rammer, new turbo IP: Logged
Message: Actually we have to stick with the 1 Bar MAP for the stock PCM.
1 Bar means at atmosphere it is at about 5VDC, and only reads from there and down into vacuum.
2 Bar MAP can read up to about 15PSI boost (double atmosphere). 4 Bar is for people running like 35PSI of boost (about 45 PSI MAX)!
Anyway if you stuck a 4 Bar MAP, at atmosphere pressure (WOT but with no boost) it would only send about 1.25 VDC out to the PCM! The PCM usualy has close to 5VDC so that would NOT work!
Even at 14PSI of boost you'd only send about 2.5 VDC to the PCM, and it would think it's only under partial load and be lean as heck! So ya gotta stick to a 1 BAR for your PCM to adjust fuel properly. Rammer and I already tried to make a 2 BAR work on his when he had the oversized injectors. It KINDA worked. In fact we HAD to use it to get the truck to idle. But not good enough.
I have some zener diodes at my house. They are cheap when I buy them from Digi-Key along with all my other electronic stuff.
One of these weekends you can stop by and we could solder one up. We can even install it now even though you don't have the turbo on there yet. At our altitude it would never give as high as 4.7 VDC output anyway so it wont change a thing to your truck.
The check valve Rammer spoke of just lets it blow air out the check valve when there is no vacuum to hold it closed. You stick the check valve TEE in right at the MAP sensor. Going through the little vacuum line to the MAP you wont loose enough air to notice when in boost. But it will keep pressure from building up at the MAP sesnor.
BTW. On our 4.7 we need to yank our MAP sensor off of the intake manifold and mount it somewhere else with a vacuum house going to it.

Copy and paste that to see the progress on Chris Ram.
Also got all my crazy projects on there too.

Message: Good schnit dude. I was wondering how that check valve would be installed with the MAP still in the manifold.
Yeah dude, I'm definitely going to need help with that zener diode. Thanks. How much was Rammer's FMU? Did he use the walbro 255 inline fuel pump because I think thats the one I might go with.
Dude, I did my bushings this weekend on my upper and lower control arms and lowered the front 2".
BUSHINGS SUCK!!!!!!!!! That was the hardest weekend of my life. I had to burn out the upper's with a Mapp gas torch. Nasty.

Message: YAH,I have the walbro 255lph. got it from fiveomotorsports, was like$130 or so. goes to 150psi. fmu i bought was $95. something we learned from talking to duner is the stock siemens injectors lock up then extra pressure is applied to them,so i suggest to get new injectors also.i have a custom flash and 24lb accell injectors.so i went with an 10:1 fmu. i you use the stock sized injectors (19lb or so) you will need an 12:1 fmu.maybe you should come by soon to make a list of everything you need

When are yous free next? I don't think I'm doing anything this weekend if your not busy.
Where did you get your custom flash? Do you think I'll need one or will a superchips suffice?

Message: I know little on this subject, but the Superchips takes the timing the wrong way. It makes power by advancing the timing; for a good turbo tune the timing needs retarding. You'll need a custom flash specific to a forced induction setup to give you optimum results.
It makes no sense to me that a later spark will resist detonation and give the best power. But then again, refer to my opening statement... :-)

Message: or you could use a stand alone system that could retard or advance timing under preset conditions. i know, more money. if you go aftermarket ignition system, can't you adjust/ retard timing on those? i thought i had seen an MSD unit that could do that along with like a rev limiter.
