Subject: Transmission Problem !! IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2001 Dakota R/T 5.9.
When you put the transmission in any gear it tries to stall the motor. I took it out on the road and if you put it into low and then drive it will upshift on it's own but very sluggish and shifts way too soon, OD doesn't appear to be working as the column switch makes no difference. When you step on it hard it will not downshift if you are going more than about 40 mph. When you try to stop it will not downshift unless you do it manually. It definately is not slipping like it should be at a stop. No codes are present, replaced the throttle position sensor and speed sensor, no results. Today I replaced the transducer pressure sensor, governor pressure solenoid and filter/fluid.
Once again no results. No metal in the pan or on the magnet. There was a little grayish dust but nothing more than that. There was no burnt smell and the fluid was reddish in color. I was leaning towards a torque converter but with the lack of metal I just have no clue. It is a 46RE and it has about 68,000 miles on it. Anyone out there ever had the same problem? Anyone have any suggestions?
