 Subject: 4.7 exh manifold replacement

I'm going to be replacing the right (passenger side) exhaust manifold. Any one have any idea what book and/or real time is for this? Any tips, hints or suggestions are also greatly appreciated...

captain chaos. Last month I had to replace two broken bolts and gasket on the left manifold of my 00 dakota 4.7 its reletivly easy. First disconnect the battery and remove the air filter box, then raise the truck and support with jackstands,next raise the transmission from the tail end with a hydralic jack,loosen or remove the trans crossmember in order to move the exhaust pipe as needed disconnect the exhaust pipe from both manifolds and move out of the way,I recommend a good quality socket as to not strip bolts.Then remove the 8 bolts size 10mm and remove manifold.You might have to drop out the bottem. I hope that helps,p.s. it will take 2-3 hours

Dude, you don't need to do all that. Just jack up the truck and remove that one wheel. There are two bolts that attach the manifold to the exhaust pip, remove those, then remove your heat shield, remove bolts from exhaust manifold, attach new manifold and repeat in reverse the previous instructions.
I did this recently to both manifolds and I was done in about an hour.
Sorry Wilky, but your method seems very complicated.

Simple recommendation: use all new bolts and nuts. It's worth the extra cost to avoid having a reused bolt bust sometime in the (possibly near) future, necessitating a repeat performance.

Yeah dude, listen to Modain.
I had two bolts on the passenger side manifold break and I replaced them with stock bolts from the stealership. Now I'm waiting for them to break again so I can replace them with stronger ones.
