Subject: Brake rotors 01' 4.7L IP: Logged
Message: My truck is at 109K miles and I want to change my rotors. I have looked at the slotted rotors from Summit Racing but Im not sure whether or not I should go with them or just put oem style back on them. The last time I changed my pads I put Bendix pads on. Would they work with slotted rotors? What are the advantages of slotted over original. Are there any disadvantages. I drive my truck daily under normal conditions and it is pretty much stock. But, I do take care of it and I want keep it as long as I can because I LOVE IT? Any suggestions of what I should do? Dont mind spending money to make sure it lasts but I dont want to go overboard. Thanks!

Message: You won't see any differance between fancy slotted rotors and stock replacements.
As for pads, Bendix is a brand name not a pad type. Stock replacement pads will work with just about any rotor. If you want to make an improvement in braking, change to a differant pad - like Hawk or Performance Friction.

Message: also, if you want those new pads and rotors to last, 2 things you should do. "bedding in" the new pads and rotors and keep those rear drums adjusted. you'll notice a big difference in braking if you do this. i could only afford the cheapest pads i could find on my brake job for my dak. i followed the instructions on the webpage below and these cheap pads stop as good if not better than the factory pads.

Message: Thanks for the replies! I will probably just stick with the stock replacements.

Message: Go aftermarket - basic Bendix stuff was all I went with; and it stops better than stock.
