There is a poppin noise in the suspension (front and rear) when I accelerate and when I apply the brakes. Most noticeable in front when appling the brakes and in the rear when I accelerate. Just wondering what this could be. Is the same component or is it two different things. Any ideas would be appreciated. No mods on the suspension.

Check your ball joints lately? it's possible that is where the noise is coming from.

Can I check the ball joints myself (maybe with the help of a buddy) or is that something that needs to be done at the dealer? If it is the ball joints how will I know its them?

If you are able to jack the front end of your truck up, with the wheel(s) off the ground, grab the tire from the bottom sides and try to move it in and out, if it moves, they might need replaced, while doing this be careful not to know the truck from the jack.
contact your dealer to see if your truck was in the recall for the ball joints, this will cost you nothing but your time. If there good, might be anything, loose shocks, loose sway bar(s), bad bushings, loose exhaust. you might have to get under the truck and move things around a bit. Good luck!
