Subject: 00 dakota issue? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 dakota w/ 4.7 v8. Over the past year the rpms will fluctuate when at cruising speeds. I seem to notice this more when on bumpy roads. Also when I start the truck it will rev a few times before settling down to 600 rpm. I think that I first notice this issue when a killed the battery... not sure though. I'm lost as to what it may be... throttle positioning sensor, speed sensor, floating tranny gear...i dont know. any info would be great thanks

Message: Throttle position sensor is a good place to start. The rough start-up idle may be the IAC valve needing cleaned. You can do a search for instructions on cleaning the IAC (Idle Air Controll) valve
