Message: Kirby - I wouldn't take this guys advice.
For one thing, he's talking about another engine.
For another, he boasted about the "powerful sound" of his combo on another thread, relating he has 3" duals. That's way to big for his combination, he seems to be basing his results more on noise than anything else. This will actually cost him low end power, less exhaust scavaging. Look for answers from other guys with 5.2s, or look for dyno results from manufacturers. K&N seems to be one of the more reputable companies; I think they post dyno results for their cold air system for different aplications.

Message: An FIPK (Fuel Injection Performance Kit/Cold-Air Intake) is a great COMPLIMENT to other aftermarket products...if you don't have other mods, don't do it! You'll be looking at minimal perfomance gains at best! I put one on my 95' 5.2 after about 1,400 in performance parts and it made a LITTLE difference, a fellow grease monkey put one on his stock, did NOTHING! If you're looking for an easy way to get performance, look at a performance chip from HyperTech. Little more money, LOT more difference

Message: Like Kowalski mentions, K&N has dyno charts showing the increased HP that thier FIPK's produce, normally 8-10 HP for a small V-8 . But, most (if not all) of that power is in the upper RPM's without an improvement in lower RPM power.
I don't think $200 for up to 10 additional HP above 3500 RPM is that great of a deal since most of your driving is done below 3500 RPM.
Like Dakota Man mentions, a chip or programmer would be a better investment to start off with. It might not make that cool growling sound, but will make power across the entire RPM range.
