Is the extended cab, but heres the problem i was told the "#4 cylinder has a compression leak that is about 100 lbs" there are no oil leaks on the engine, no water leaks and no smoke black or white coming from the exhaust? now i been told that it is more than likely head gaskets need replacing, by one guy. And another guy has told me that some ring on a piston needs fixin or it may need a new engine, thought i would try this before i shell out money for a new engine! any info would be great thanks all in advance

get a second opinion.
"#4 cylinder has a compression leak that is about 100 lbs"

that statement doesn't make any sense. #4 cylinder could be a little low on compression but 100#'s should still be ok. i don't have my FSM(factory service manual) with me to check.

as long as the adjacent cylinders to the #4, (i.e. #'s 2 & 6) are within, i think 15% of each other, let it roll.

one thing you could do is pull the #4 spark plug out and look at it. if it is a light tan color, all is good.

almost forgot. if you go for a second opinion, don't tell them anything about the first. let them draw their own conclusions.

could be a few things. best thing to do is check to see if the check eninge light is on and what codes are stored. start from there.

Why were you told this in the first place? Some other service issue?

just what the guy told me as i was talking to him about the truck, the owner of the truck now, and then i asked a few buddies at work and thisis what 2 of them said to me , it is more than likely head gaskets need replacing, by one guy. And another guy has told me that some ring on a piston needs to be fixed or it may need a new engine, the owner now claims that this is the only issue with the truck, i will be out there saturday to go look at it.

Do a ""LEAK DOWN TEST"" Engine is warmed up, plugs removed, Radiator cap off, dipstick out, intake butterfly open; crank to TDC cly#1 install Leak down tester into spark plug hole and pressurize. read meter for leakage. Listen in air intake, oil dipstick for air leak and bubbles in radiator. test the other clynders.
