so today driving around town i realized i have no power really, espicially low end. I only have a 10 inch round filter. it is like when im at a stand still it is hard to get moving and when cruising if i try to pass someone it revs up to 3500-4000 rmp and then finially kicks in. is this normal??? what simple mods can help with this???exhaust,tb???

Slap a turbo on there and it will help. Thats what I'm doing right now.
If that's too much for you, than try to fab up or purchase a full intake system, I made my intake system by piecing together parts from autozone, cheap, but very effective.
When I put a full intake system on my 4.7L it really helped off the line throttle response. Then try to open up the exhaust up, a new muffler and possibly an upgraded y-pipe. If your not planning on going too deep into mods, I would see if there is a programmer out there for your engine. I suspect there is and it will get you moving off the line quicker. A V8 throttle body is supposed to give you some more power too. I've heard many people with the 3.9l upgrade to a V8 throttle body.
Sorry I couldn't give you more suggestions but my 4.7L is completely different from yours. I believe that your 3.9 has more after market parts a available too.

the 3.9 responds well to 1.7 roller rockers
larger TB free flowing muffler and cat
there is also a cam hughes makes now
its great for low end and mid range power
which is what your looking for
