Message: First of all why are you repainting? I ask this because each answer will bring a different repair technique. I will guess a few of the most common dodge problems and go from there. If you paint is turning white and starting to get chalky then this is because the UV in the sun is breaking down the factory clear coat. To fix this you can't simple just scuff and paint over it. This will cause a mess later if not fairly quick. What you have to do is get rid of all the deteriorated clearcoat areas(to do it really right you would strip and etch prime, prime, sand, paint, clear) The simple easy, but not bulletproof way is to. You need to feather edge back the spots that are chalking to get it good solid clear coat. Then you can prime those spots in. Then sand and paint. If you have a cracking effect which looks like little "crowsfeet" then you need to strip and do as I stated above. If you want you can email me and I can assit you further.

Message: Yeah the paint is wearing out in large strips, but I kind of complicated things because about a year back when I first got the truck I tried going the cheapest way out and just spraying auto black paint over the worn out spots, and the spots came back a lot faster than I expected. So now I figure I better just sand the whole thing and repaint it the way it should be. The info u gave me is very informative, thank you. I’m a screw up so u will probably be hearing from me soon.

Message: No come on don't be like that. Self confidence is a imperative key to a good repair. The only thing you really did was make an extra step for your self. You now have to remove the paint you put on it. This could be time consuming because if it was that "cheap" of material they it will clogg your sand paper as fast as you can sand. If you would like you can email me at barnesjn@earthlink.net ans sent me some pictures of what you are working with.
