Subject: 1992 Vehicle Speed Sensor

Got a '92 318 4x4 dakota with 81,000 miles on it. Having trouble with OD and the torque converter engaging and disengaging intermittently, and also cruise works and does not work at the same time as OD & torque converter. Using the ignition key cycle to get the trouble codes, I pulled a code 15 vehicle speed sensor out of range. I tried replacing the sensor but it still shows the same symptoms.

I would like to check the wiring on it now, but I am not sure how to properly test the circuit. I am equipped with a digital multimeter and that's about it. Where do the VSS wires route to under the hood? Any ideas what else may be wrong? Anyone had a similar problem they solved?
