 Subject: header sound

I have a 5.2L with a 3" exhaust from the Y pipe back to a 40 series muffler,were it splits to 2 2.5"tail pipes.It has no cats.Will a set of shorty headers make that much of a difference in the sound and performance?

header yes will change the sound of your truck..... the cast iron manifolds cause each exhuast note to mix together.... the headers having a runner down to the collector for each clyinder cause the exhaust notes not to mix as soon and that in turns causes a different exhuast note to exit the pipe...
