Subject: P0308 HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IP: Logged
Message: Guys/Gals,
i need some help bad.....on my 01' 5.9.>>>
i got this code....it all happened over a period of like 2 days.....bad chugging with light gas pedal pressures.....thought it was water in gas....etc...
nope...so now i have changed my plugs, cap, rotor and went ahead and replaced coil since the tip was a bit smooothed out from a past bad coil wire.
it still chuggs and throws the code...the engine light is even flashing some times!!!
i am in big $$$ trouble...i just know it...lol
the only thing left to change is plug wires?
FYI....the #8 plug had some wetness from gas on it when i pulled it out...but no signs of oil...???
any thought before i turn it over to dealership.
Thanks in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Message: I would check the injectors. I have had nothing but problems with my injectors. I think that it was the fact of previous owners running crappy gas and running it empty all the time.

Message: guys,
all connections are good..thats why i replaced my coil cuz the wire wouldnt snap down on it....my wires are @ 60000 miles old.
i switched the wire #7 with #8 today i will post if the new code comes up as p0307 if so...i have narrowed the problem!
How much are new injectors gonna run me parts and labor?
THANks!!

Message: Unless they are broke I would not replace them. I would just try to clean them the best that I can. They make injector cleaner spray just like carburetor cleaner.

Message: If you changed plugs wires at the plug end you swapped #8 and#6 wire. Are these original factory wires? Mopar had a load of problems with Induction cross firing with these wires as the wires aged its from the coil wire running parallel with the other wires and causing the missfires. if they are original change them with a Mopar performance set or any other heavy duty set you can find. there was a TSB for this problem for years all the dodges and jeeps with the V-8s they all used the same wire set. try moving the wires apart in the loom as see if it helps

Message: Mopar I'd change the Cap/rotor plugs and wires at this point because of the mileage but you could quickly just try the 4-6-8 and coil wire fast to see if your problem goes away with the new wires and change that wet #8 plug too. Then go and finish the rest of the tuneup if that fixes it.60-70k miles is alot for factory wires/ cap/rotor. let us know how you make out.
ScojoDak thanks for the TSB

all tune up parts have already been replaced..plugs wires cap rotor etc.
when wife pulled into driveway this morning..there was a awful exhaust smell...kinda like sulfur mixed with rotten eggs???
any more thoughts....got appt for thursday morning at dealer...uhggggggggggggggg

Message: did you replace the wet plug you found? maybe gapped wrong or closed when reinstalled? injector 8 could be partially blocked and not spraying a good pattern. lots of poss. but have to start someplace. Is that the only code? its hard to tell what else is going on without a scan tool of some type to see what the other sensors are doing. If you like the dealer you go to and trust them let them take a look at it

Message: EVERYONE,
heres the verdict.......
1. injector 8 was packed tight with a hard sandy substance, rock like form
2. injector 6 had loose sandy substance that blew out when removed
3. plug wires were giving off interference(sp?)
4. cylinder 8 was caked over with carbon
5. the above resulted in a VERY BAD RUNNING ENGINE.
THe following was done to vehicle....
fuel system/induction cleanup...BG PRODUCTS
new wires
Cleaned up 6 and 8 injectors.
Final Cost.....
$280$
road tested and verified with engine analyzer all is smooth as a baby's butt!!!
Thanks for all who helped!!!!!
