Message: I saw this hughes cam P/N HER1824, in an article it has 268/274 lift at .050 duration I hope I got this right, and the article said that 1.5 ratio rocker arms are required to use it, what I was wonderining is this cam too big for a '99 5.9 liter RT engine with RT heads and the new (it hasn't been on the market very long and most resellers have them on back order) MPI intake. I don't want to find out the hard way by tearing my engine apart to discover it won't work, and also if anyone knows how much they cost

Message: That is the old engine cam. Not a magnum cam.
These are magnum cams that work with fuel injection.
Hughes magnum cams.

Message: CW - wrong, that is a Hughes engines Magnum Roller cam (an older one)... HER(Hughes Engines Roller) I have an older one of their cams myself, HER0612AL
rt99 - "268/274 lift at .050 duration" should be duration... "Advertised Duration (at .005" lift)"
The revised version of that cam should be HER1828AL... 1.5 rockers would give you around .510" lift, where the 1.6 rockers would give you around .544" lift... you'll lose some bottom end with the 1.6's....
Hope this helpd!
Later!

Message: Yeah but that still is WAY WAY to much duration. 275° @ .050" is good for about 8500 rpm. 275° at .005" advertized duration is alright. With a duration of somewhere around 218° @ .050" Hopefuly on a 114 LCA.

Message: rt99,
You might want to ask Hughes for a recommendation for your particular combination. There's a place on their web site which lists all the specs they need to know.
That's what I did for my 318 Dak. I wanted to keep it streetable but extend my power band so they recommended their HER1418AL cam and appropriate valve springs.
I installed the M1 2-bbl intake when I did the cam. Driveability is unchanged but my power peak went from 5400 rpm to at least 6000 (factory tach stops there so who knows). Shifting at 5800 rpm, I've picked up 3 tenths and 3 mph in the quarter while losing only 3 hundredths in the 60 foot times. I cannot describe how strong this thing pulls above 5000 rpm.
Since you have the 360 engine, you could probably use an even hotter cam without noticeable loss in the low end.
You can check my specs at - http://www.dragtruk.com/ENTRIES/20KM1FD2KWBP.html
