Message: Was this the reason that you replaced the ball joints? Other things to consider that could cause the problems you are describing.
Vibrations; Out of ballance tires/ CV shafts. Bad wheel bearings. Alignment that has "Cupped" the tread on your tires.
The thumping sound; This could also in some cases cause vibrations but not always.
Bad upper and or lower control arm pivot bushings. Bad tierod ends (inner or outer) and also the tortion bars loose or binding.
Either have your suspention fully checked or check it yourself. a small amount of "cracking" of the pivot bushings is normal if they are rubber but if they are Urethane there should be no cracking and also they should be lubed with ONLY a urethane approved grease. I hope this helps to solve your problems keep us informed.

Message: yes, we saw that all of the ball joints had alot of play and figured that was what was wrong. it doesn't vibrate/thump going down the road. only when i brake hard and take off from a stand-still. i don't guess it's a vibration really. its hard to discribe, i guess thumping or bumping is a better word. it will do it about 5-6 times rapidly when taking off and 1-2 when braking. if im creeping and hit the brakes it will do it once. i hope this isn't too confusing. thanks again. i'll try checking the tierod ends and tortion bars.

Message: get suspension checked. but it also sounds like cupped tires so dont forget to check if they are a true round. a tire shop can do this for you.

Message: What you are discribing to me sounds like upper control arm bushings. you could also have some warping in the rotors assisting in the vibrabration. If this is the case then you will need to have the rotors turned and install new pads.

Message: Check your tie rod ends. Mine did the same thing, bad tie rod end. Also, a while back, the same thing happened on my '93 S-10.

Message: i agree with Massey. i've experienced the same thing on a vehicle i had a long time ago. the control arm bushings were shot.
