Subject: Use Motorcraft FL1A oil filter on 4.7L ?

Message:
Does anyone know if an Motorcraft FL-1A oil filter would work OK on an 4.7L motor? I'd like to use this slightly longer Oil filter as long as it will meet the factory oil filter specifications-but, with the added benifit of more dirt holding capacity as well as a little bit more total oil capacity?

I have a 2002 Quad Cab and there are some lines that pass under the oil filter-but just by eye, it looks like the longer Fl-1A oil filter would clear these lines? However, with the normal rocking motion of the 4.7L engine during running in normal driving, will the FL-1A oil filter still not hit anything? My Quad Cab is a 4 x 2 wheel drive. I just want to be sure that there won't be any fitment problems with the larger FL-1A oil filter? Please comment? Thanks!

Have an 01 blk motorsport dak and have used the FL1a filter for years. Clears everything and you get an extra half quart of oil to circulate. Works fine.
