Subject: Headers IP: Logged
Message: I need some long tube headers for a 318. I can't spend a crazy
amount of money so I'm trying to figure out what my best option
is. So far I've found that I don't have many. If anyone has
suggestions I would appreciate it.
I was also curious if anyone knows about headers for the older
318/360. The ports on the LA heads and Magnum heads are in
the same location so headers will bolt up. All the headers are
sold based upon the car body style. Like if I bought a set for a
360 in an A body would it fit in the truck? If anyone knows a
pair that would fit on a 97 Dakota it would be a big money saver.
Thanks everyone!

Message: From my experience with A-body headers, they're designed so some steering linkage passes through the header. I'd think the truck linkage would probably be different enough that there would likely be interference but not sure. My experience with LA B-body headers was 30 years ago, recolection kind of fuzzy, but I think they cleared the linkage. One big thing to check might be how they clear the steering box. Don't know if that might be more likely to work or not. Maybe someone else can help ?
