Message: I have a 2001 Dakota Motorsports Edition, it is a quad cab with the 5.9L, has black rims, the motorsports logo on the doors. I was told it was rare. My question is how many were made, and does it really have 300 horsepower?

Message: the only difference is the interior and the suspension. The r/t has performance style suspension with special shocks... thats about it

Message: I thought the motorsport edition came with the 4.7L,whith the 3.90 limited slip rear end.
They tested one in a old issue of mopar muscle.
They ran it against a R/T and it was a very close race.

Message: Bryan, you do have a rare truck. Dodge celebrated their return to NASCAR racing in 2001 with the "Dodge Motorsports Limited Edition". Three vehicles (Dakota,Intrepid and Neon) had the trim package: door decals, black wheels with silver edge, Goodyear Eagle #1 yellow raised letter tires, and a "track bag" with all kinds of promo goodies. These were dealer-order-only vehicles, and the order window was only about 90 days in the Spring of 2001. 1028 Dakotas, 1026 Intrepids, and only 87 Neons were made. The colors available were Red, Black and Silver. Most of the Dakotas were ordered in the spirit of performance: RC 4.7 5-speed manual and 3:92 gear. You could get any Dakota except for 4x4 and R/T with Dodge Motorsports option ACM. I know the Quad Cabs are quite rare. I personally have seen only one black and one red QC. There are two lengthy posts on dd.com here about the trucks. The tires were discontinued in 2002.

Message: If the Dodge Dakota Motorsports Limited Edition came with the 4.7L motor, why does mine have the 5.9L/360 motor? I can send pictures over emails of my Dakota, if any one is currious to see it, just post your email and ask.

Message: There is alot that is different. Heads, cam, ECU,
trans, driveshaft, suspension, steering. Just one example. My 98 R/T has a 9.25 limited slip rear.
How many of you neophytes can say your regular Dakota has any of the heavy duty equipment that the R/T's have. Mopar or no car since 1976.

Message: The RT's have the same 5.9's as any other Mopar out there made since 1993. Nothing special in them. Matter of fact, the exhaust isn't as good as the 1992 (5.2's) and early 1993 (5.2 and 5.9) Magnums.
Mopar or No Car since 1967. :-P
