Message: Seems to be the frame. Super bee's listed how most enthusiasts list the generations, while "Here You Go" has listed how Dodge designates them. Enthusiasts make a distinction between when the gen 1 got a longer nose for the v8, but the frame is still pretty much the same.

Message: Dodge considered the 1987-1996 one generation. Actually, the cab, doors, and bed were the same. The 1991 change to accept spacing for the radiator and V-8 was a huge step for the enthusiasts, and kind-of stuck. We have a "styling situation" with the 2008 front end change on the 2005-up Dakota.

Message: That's largely why the enthusiasts figure it differently - mopar has always figured it by the frame. The older cars are a good example, with A-body, B,C,E,F, etc. always being grouped by their frames, even though there were different makes (Plymouth, Dodge, Chrysler), and different models for each example (Valiiant, Dart, Duster, Demon, early Barracuda - all A-bodies).

Message: Yeah, Kowalski. I had to judge the "B body" class at a Mopar car show once; it about wore me out LOL.

Message: Sounds like a tough job ! My first car was a '70 Coronet 440, I could never be an impartial judge if there was one of those in the mix...
