Message: The IAT (Intake Air Temp) sensor tells the PCM how cold the incoming air is and the PCM adjusts the fuel mix. You can fool the PCM into adding a little more fuel by replacing the IAT sensor with a resistor value matching whatever air temp you want the PCM to see. BUT I was told that the O2 sensor will override the resistor trick if it sees the air/fuel mix isn't right ...

Message: My 99 5.2l has no cat or o2 sensor.I have a o2 simulator.Would relocating the IAT to the air box work. And would I be able to tell a power gain?

Message: It's another mod that I am pretty sure does absolutely nothing. Even if it DID do some change, the computer would relearn.
I tried it, removed it long time ago.
We get so deperate for any improvement that we will try anything. I of course am pretty picky about what I try and have admitted several things make no change.
IAT mod = no change
Colder T-Stat = no change (especially on a 4.7, where the coolant temp has NO EFFECT on intake manifold temp).
And some people who are REALLY desperate will buy Throttle body spacers, Intake "Turbulators" and all sorts of stuff people sell to the first sucker who comes across their worthless product.
The only EASY mods so far worth any weight has been the SuperChips programmer (not really and HP increase I could feel) but it moves the limiters and does some timing advance. A cam swap can help as well.
Porting a Throttle Body will almost net some Butt Dyno HP at the higher Revs as well. :)

Message: JasonC ..... The O2 sensor you removed and replaced with a SIM only keeps track of the cat converter it has nothing to do with the fuel mix .. the O2 for fuel mix is further up the system near the Y-pipe ...
