Subject: Carsound Cat Question - Bernd? IP: Logged
Message: I was thinking of swapping out my cat for a Carsound cat. I was looking at the speedtweaks site. I appear to need the 94016, which is 2.5" in and 2.5" out, with air (whatever that means). Can anyone confirm this for me? Also, for anyone that's done this, how does the high flow cat change the sound of your exhaust?

Message: Most mufflers shops carry the carsound brand so you can check them out in person. It will make your exhaust a little louder, and give you some extra hp. I had one installed and its pretty small but the extra power is there.

Message: I have a general mistrust of most local shops. I have a friend who does a wide variety of mechanical and body work who does all the stuff I don't do myself, including exhaust. I prefer to do the research myself on what part I need and just turn it over to someone else to do the install. Thanks for the info though.

Message: I have the 94019 on my 3" exhaust, so I believe you have the right one.

Message: I was going to put a high flow cat on, a 2 1/2" in/out actually, but things changed. I got a lil more freedom from restriction than I originally planned, but it sounds MUCH nicer and the performance increase REALLY is there. It's revs much easier and pulls a hell of a lot more in higher RPM. Not to mention it sound much meaner. Idle is a bit more V8ish. It doesn't make it too much louder unless WOT. It's worth it getting that cat outta there...
I have the 2 1/2 still, but I think I am going to keep it just incase I need it one day.
