I have a 99 dakota sport,4x4 floor shifter. 5.2, manual.
Earlier this winter I noticed that when my truck had been running for a while, and i shifted from 2wd to 4wd hi, the "4x4 part time" light wasnt comming on, but my 4x4 still seemed to work. It would come on tho if it was cold.
Now today i tried and it wont come on at all?? Could it be a sensor or something, or is my 4x4 takin a crap?
Message: it could be a bad sensor mine had one that wouldn't turn the light on. test the sensor by putting it in 4x4 and roll the truck a few feet to let it lock in then crawl under the truck on the front axle there is a sensor toward the passenger side check to see if there is continuity between the two terminals if there is the light bulb or wiring to the light is bad if not either the sensor is bad or the 4x4 isn't engaging
