Message: I was wanting to cut out the cat and put in straight pipe. I have a 2002 4.7L 4x4. I looked all over and I didn't see an O2 sensor after the cat. I also just had the Flowmaster 40 series single in duall out put on. Will this hurt anything on my truck? What about performance?

Message: hey if you cat dont have an o2 sensor on it then the only thing that will happen from replacing that with pipe is increased air flow. but as long as u dont increase pipe size i believe everything would be fine as long as power...now if u do have an o2 sensor u want to put that back in the pipe so it can send its air fuel reading to the motor...other wise your back pressure will be messed up.

Message: With all due respect, there will be no difference in performance with or without the cat. Far as pressure is concerned, It should not exceed 1 and 1/2 pounds of pressure at any speed measured in front of the cat. If you insist on increasing back pressure, the higher the pressure the shorter your valve life.

Message: I have decided to go with a high flowing cat instead. I wasn't to conscerned about pressure as much as sound. I already have the flowmaster 40 series single in duall out. I just wanted it a little louder that's all.

Message: Here's one for sound. About a year ago my dad bought a very rare 1993 3/4 ton full-size, extended cab (whatever they called it) Ram. The previous owner had no idea how rare it was, and it's lived a work truck life, cosmetically speaking. Even the dealership didn't believe it had an OEM 360 Magnum in it for some reason. We had to give them the VIN number to prove it was an original, because we needed parts, and they kept giving us stuff for a 360 LA. Anyway, I noticed that this thing sounded awfully good. Has the larger exhaust mannys. Thought to myself that the muffler was blown out just about right. Anyway, I got under it recently and looked. There is no muffler, just the cat and a straight pipe! Obviously, the OEM fell off some time back and the previous owner just put a straight pipe on. The cat blunts the exhaust just enough to not be LOUD, but it sounds great! Actually sounds very similar to my old '69 Charger 318 all hopped up with headers and dual pipes.

Message: I am sure that they started releasing Magnum engines in 1992. So it would not be that rare then. 92 318 Dakotas are really rare. I also think that '93 was the first year for the 360 magnum.
'97 RC V6, 5spd, soon to be V8, 5spd!

Message: I had a '92 5.2 RC that I bought new in Jan'93. Dodge promoted the truck in their literature as a "Muscle Truck", since the new Magnum V-8 had 230HP and 280TQ, 60 more HP than in 1991. We found out how special the '92-'93 5.2 Daks were in '94, when Dodge put 1/4" smaller exhaust manifolds, changed the ECM profile and cam, and ended up with 220HP and 295TQ, and a much slower truck. So, the Dak became a truck, not a muscle truck (in factory spec, or course). Just think, the lightest 2007 Dakota is 700 pounds heavier than in 1996! Progress?
