Subject: ? about 408 and stock gauges IP: Logged
Message: I just got the engine running and its bad. I have the stock gears and rearend and i can feel tires breaking lose at 30 or faster and i haven't even hit over 4 grand. Now back to my question...I want to try to get the odometer to work. I don't want any guages to work but this one. I have a 5 inch Cobalt tach and the sh!ty thing is that Cobalt doesn't make a oil or temp gauge in 2 5/8. I also have a TCI full manual auto 727 and to get the speedo to work don't i just go to Dodge?

Message: Not too familiar with Dak's but,
does the original speedo get its signal
from a sensor on top of the rear axle?
(electronic signal thru the computer)
If so an older style speedo (mechanically
driven by a transmisson gear & cable)
will have to be installed in it's place.

Message: asuming the factory computer is not required
or doesn't function at all with your 408 / 727 setup.
