 Subject: 99 5.2 Oil Cap

Took my truck to ez lube, as usual, for the Mobil 1 Synthetic a few weeks ago.
Anyhow I went to change my spark plugs this weekend and noticed that my oil cap is missing. Those lazy bastards. I went to autozone and to pepboys and could not find the right cap. Each location gave me an oil cap with threads that you screw into place. However my truck takes an oil cap that has a 1/4 turn type deal to put on/take off.
1999 5.2 Completely stock. What is on your 5.2 / 5.9's. Is your oil cap threaded?

I have a 99 4x4 with the 5.2. My cap is the screw in type. I haven't bought anything in resent years with the old style cap on it. You sure your 1/4 turn cap was the correct one. I know mine is correct as I bought the truck new.

Unfortunately I did try out the screw in type, didn't work. Taking a look at the valve cover there is no threads.
The truck had a cap that when the engine temp was up a operating temp the cap would not come off..you would have to wait until it cooled down a bit before being able to remove the cap.

All I can say is go back to the people that lost it. Most likely it's sitting there somewhere like in the office or below the till. Maybe in someones tol drawer.

did you buy the truck new? are the valve covers factory or Mopar Performance covers. when i switched mine in my 99RT the Mopars come with old style 1/4 turn oil caps
