had the ball joints replaced during the recall, but have noticed a popping sound. this only happens once in awhile. had the tire shop look at it nothing!, they even road tested it. sound comes from the left front, and again just one pop!

were the replacement ball joints fitted with a grease fitting and if so try to grease them... they might be dry...

i had the same problem with the popping... i replaced the ball joints and its gone now. you might have had a lack of grease and might need new ball joints again... sorry buddy

My 2000 4.7 liter was making a knock in the front end when turning. It was still under warranty at the time, the dealer said it was the steering stops, and they needed to be lubricated.

My understanding is the replacement ball joints have an extended warranty on - I would check.

I know if you buy the moogs they have a lifetime replacement on them. Well worth it, because boots tear really easily.
