Subject: clutch problem IP: Logged
Message: i have a 97 dakota 5.2 with a manual tranny.
while driving home from work i pressed the cluth pedal to stop and i felt a thud. with the pedal pushed in i was still getting power to the wheels. the clutch pedal was stuck to the floor until i tried to push it again and now i can push it almost halfway before it becomes very stiff. now the motor will not turn over.
what could be the possible problem?
i would like to do the work myself to save a little bit of money.
thanks in advance.

Message: Check the clutch slave cylinder is where it's supposed to be, and not unbolted and swinging free.
Check slave cylinder to clutch lever arm still connected.
Other mechanical checks of lever arm, throwout bearings etc need access (tranny removal to look inside bellhousing).
