Message: I have a friend with a 2000 Durango R/T, and I really don't care for it compared to my 2000 Dakota QC 4x4 5.9L. The Durango runs pretty good for a heavy, stock vehicle; but it also requires premium fuel. I like the way it handles, but it rides kinda' choppy. My truck has the same power seat, but the seat in the Durango feels much firmer in the lower back area, and is very uncomfortable to me. Compared to other competitive SUV's, I would recommend the Durango. I just like the entire overall feel of my truck alot better. Just my opinion, so nobody get offended.

Message: I have a 99 5.9 with the R/T cam in it I run mid octane usually 89... Pull a boat or 4 wheeler trailer most of hte time and get descent gas mileage. Descent meaning like 15.5 int town 18 freeway. It works great for trips where you are taking the family or the guys and the hunting gear. Ive been extremely happy with mine. Just so you know my whole family has dodges 11 of them actually and the Dakotas are one mean lil truck. If you dont need the sheltered cargo room of the Durango I would seriously consider the QC. Just my .02

Message: my wife has a 2000 R/T. i live the truck. it is what inspired me to buy my dakota. extremely tight turning radius, very easy to drive, i find the seats comfortable. the suede lether trim is very nice. the only thing i dont like about it is the rear floor board is not completely flat when you lay down the rear seats.

Message: Just picked up a 2003 Durango R/T. Very powerful, very fast. All time 4 WD. Rides smooth, but likes to drink the fuel. Avg. 11 in the city and about 15-18 hwy depending on how I'm driving. Great in the snow. NY, We just got 2foot+ in the last 2 weeks. I was going through large snowbanks and 2ft snow on pavement no problem.............
Pricy but worth every penny......

Message: I was looking @ the durango r/t's and even though they came w/ 5 extra HP, it didnt seem worth it to have the 4x4. Unless you dont have a problem paying $10,000 extra for all the extra goodies, then I would go w/ an SLT or SLT Plus. I personally went w/ the SLT to save money and put the rest of it into modifications. My biggest complaint about my durango has been the piece of crap sway-bar that is on that thing... when you get it loaded up w/ 7 people you better take those turns easy. I'm actually looking to replace it, hopefully I will be able to. Other than that, I love it a lot more than any of the silverados and blazer's I have owned.

Message: The R/T gives you a little bit more performance tuned engine with high performance cams...and the suspension is a lot tighter and handles A LOT different...also gives you a sport tuned exhaust that has a nice sound to it and on top of that a nice set of wheels. The inside is two tone leather and parts of it are trimmed out in suade (sp?) leather....my dad has a 2001 and it sweet...the only complaint that I have is the suspension on long trips on the freeway...you can feel it hop over bumps in the road...and if you are the driver when it does that the steering wheel jerks alittle...but other than that I'm not really sure what the differences are

Message: The 5.9L is one of the best in the Dodge Durango's class, and overall is a very refined and nice drive with 250hp of power for passing at any time, and is overall a great valued SUV.My sister owns a 2001 Durango R/T, and it has been very capable of everything, and I highly recommend it to anyone in the SUV market.

Message: I have both, a 2001 Durango R/T and a 99' Dakota R/T. frankly, I like driving my Durango more. Sounds better for one thing. Could also be because it has power mirrors and heated seats and chrome R/T wheels. Braking is better too. Mileage is about the same - 12 mpg. But my Dakota is fun too with it's shaker hood and flame job and Torque Thrust 20 " wheels. Each has it's pluses, but both have plenty of power. Jer

| 2002 5.9R/T Radio problem IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2002 5.9R/T with the Infinity sound system and the AMP that is mounted on the passenger sidewall beside the blower fan. Today I took it to the dealer for them to state inspect it and had the radio going when they took it in. When they gave it back to me, the radio was working when I cranked it up and then I pulled over and turned it either off or volume all the way to 0 so I could make a phone call. I noticed when I got off my phone call the radio itself was working...meaning all digital controls and such, even telling me what song was playing (so antenna must be working)....but there was ZERO sound from speakers. I cannot get any crackling....popping, NOTHING. I have checked both radio fuses (1 10A and 1 20A in the drivers fuse panel beside the dash and the 20A power amp fuse. All good. I took radio out to check the connections, all good. Only thing I can think of is that my AMP has taken a dump? I have no idea how I could test the amp? There are a few on ebay but I'd think the AMP would more likely be bad than the radio? Everything works on the radio except ZERO sound. Anyone got any info one this? Much appreciated....I'm scratching my head at this time!
