i lowered my 97 dakota 2/4 and since then when i start slow in first gear at about 2 grand it feels like a slip or somthing, i thought maybe i should replace the universal joints. Is axle strengthening needed on my truck? comments please thanks

I don't see how a u-joint or an axle could slip without completely failing; maybe problem is elsewhere ?
