Message: Trans-Go 45RFE-HD2 reprogramming kit, I got one off Ebay from Oregon Preformance Transmission, for $75. Nice improvement for my 03 545RFE.
Trans-Go also has a $40 shift kit, SK 45RFE, for the 45/545RFE, but it doesn't have as many parts as the reprogramming kit.

Message: I had the tranny out of the truck so the kit was a peice of cake, in the truck doesn't look too bad either. You need to remove the main wiring harness plug, drop the pan, remove the filters (get new ones), remove 6-7 bolts from the valve body and pull the VB free. Once the VB is out, replace several springs and seals and a special L/R piston in the VB and replace an upgraded retaining plate,,, easiest shift kit I have instaled. The only thing that was a PITA was getting the old L/R piston out, it's small-light and hangs in the bore because of the fluid tension. I fiddled with it for 10 minutes before busting out the ShopVac and sucking the lil' b@st@rd out.
There are several parts that only get installed if the tranny is out, a HD snap ring and a few springs in the pump. There's also a resistor that you leave out with the Superchips programmer, your lucky as it looks like it would be a PITA to do the resistor with the tranny in the truck.

Message: I think the resistor was kind of a hack job and for someone installing this kit with the tranny in the truck, very difficult.
Just think how much easier it would be if Trans-Go supplied an extension cable with the resistor mod built into it. Disconnect the existing cable, plug in the extension cable and your done.
Naw,,, that would be too easy...

Message: The superchips already gives a nice crisp shift and a occasional BARK of the tires for me.
I need to change my fluid though. Kinda makes the valve body kit tempting since it's not a big deal.
